[News] New Manga Releases in English
I’ve been doing lists of new German Boys Love releases for a while already and just realized that I never did one for English releases, what the heck?!
To atone for my sin, I’ve sat down and checked what upcoming releases I could find on Amazon.
Escape Journey by Ogeretsu Tanaka
Best news for all Ogeretsu Tanaka fans! Escape Journey is her longest and probably also most-wanted series and it’s finally getting an English release in September this year.
Naoto and Taichi’s turbulent high school love crashed and burned, but a reunion in college puts love back in the air.
Naoto and Taichi’s first try at love during their high school days crashed and burned. Years later the two unexpectedly reunite on their first day of college. Tumultuous love often burns hot, and the glowing embers of their previous relationship reignite into a second try at love.
It’s Naoto’s first day of college, and the last person he expected to see was his high school ex Taichi, who he’d dumped after a huge argument. Even though years have passed, Naoto finds he’s still steamed over some of the harsh words that were exchanged, but he also recognizes how much Taichi has matured since then and can’t help getting pulled back in. Will the discovery of his friend’s crush on Taichi fray the fragile threads of this mending relationship?
Release dates:
Volume 1: September 11, 2018
Volume 2: December 11, 2018
Volume 3: April 9, 2019
I Hear The Sunspot: Limit by Fumino Yuki
The third volume of this series about a hearing-impaired student and the boy who lights up his world is actually the first volume of the Limit arc which is still ongoing, but the second volume still hasn’t been released in Japan.
“You rescued me from a world without sound. If it wasn’t for you, I never would’ve known the world was such an amazing place!”
Because of a hearing disability, university student Kohei had made a habit of distancing himself from those around him. But after meeting the exceedingly cheerful Taichi, he gradually begins to embrace a more positive outlook on life. Kohei eventually begins to see Taichi as more than a friend, and after he finally confesses his love to Taichi, the feelings become mutual.
In this new addition to the I Hear the Sunspot series, Kohei continues on as a student, while Taichi makes his way out into the working world to pursue his own calling and the two begin a new life together!
Release date: November 20, 2018
Ten Count volume 6 by Takarai Rihito
Finally the last volume of the Ten Count series is up for preorder in English! The series took a pretty sudden end in Japan early this year which still feels a bit incomplete, to be honest. Probably not because of popularity issues though, since a web game was released, a smartphone game announced and a TV anime is also in the works.
Corporate secretary Shirotani suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder in this doctor-patient romance fraught with compulsion!
Corporate secretary Shirotani suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. One day he meets Kurose, a therapist who offers to take him through a ten-step program to cure him of his compulsion. As the two go through each of the ten steps, Shirotani’s attraction to his counselor grows.
Quick note though: Kurose is a therapist, but not Shirotani’s doctor. He agrees to help his as a friend, which for some reason even the publishers like to mix up, probably because it sounds so kinky.
Release date: December 11, 2018
Hitorijime My Hero by Arii Memeko
I fell in love with this series thanks to its anime which aired exactly a year ago last year. And the summary holds the key to the “why”:
A yaoi romance between a good boy who didn’t know he was waiting for a hero, and a bad boy who comes to his rescue! Now a hit anime on Amazon Prime!
“I don’t like caramel sauce. I prefer something bitter…”
Masahiro Setagawa doesn’t believe in heroes, but wishes he could: He’s found himself in a gang of small-time street bullies who use him to run errands. But when high school teacher (and scourge of the streets) Kousuke Ohshiba comes to his rescue, he finds he may need to start believing after all…and as their relationship deepens, he realizes a hero might be just what he was looking for this whole time.
A good boy and a bad boy, what could possibly go wrong??
Release dates:
Volume 1: January 1, 2019
Volume 2: March 5, 2019
Go for it, Nakamura! by Syundei
This one is a bit of a blue-baller, but still caused a little hype when it came out. It’s really funny and I enjoyed it a lot and to my surprise, without ever finding out about it on social media, this one is already released!
Nakamura loves a boy in his class–now he just has to keep himself together!
Nakamura is a shy boy who falls in love at first sight with another boy–his dreamy high school classmate Hirose. But there’s a problem: they haven’t met yet. And Nakamura is a total spaz who might bungle things before they even begin! In this endearing Boy’s Love comedy about the trials of high school, follow Nakamura’s hilarious attempts to cling to happiness.
Release date: July 3, 2018
And last but not least…
Prince Bari by Solanine and Maki
This is actually the only one on this list I haven’t read yet, but the cover and plot look very interesting, so I’ll give it a go once I can get my hands on it! The only downside here is that I can’t read the original since the author-artist-duo seems to be Korean ;w;
